Introduction
Firstly, and most importantly, we’re not an e-commerce website. While this site may look like one, we’re not there yet.
Delectables has started testing the concept of hyper-local delivery into our suburb of Jukskei Park and the surrounding areas.
We have a dual focus: delivering products such as cheese at prices below traditional brick-and-mortar retailers, while also sourcing amazing local products from businesses in Gauteng that you won’t typically find in supermarkets.
With that in mind, here’s how it works.
1. Ordering
The site allows you to place an order with us. You won’t be asked to pay on the site — your order is simply logged into our ordering system.
Importantly, we’re currently only taking orders from Jukskei Park and nearby suburbs.
2. Variable weight of cheese
The options of 500g, 1kg and 2kg on the site are a rough guide. When we cut the cheese, we place the exact weight on the invoice at R135/kg.
Given you don’t pay with your order online, you won’t be charged an incorrect amount. See 7.
3. We’ll invoice you
Once we receive your order, we’ll send you an invoice and update your order in our system.
4. Payment
You then pay via EFT and send us a proof of payment.
5. Delivery
Once payment has been received, we’ll deliver your order to you.
6. Backorders
Our suppliers generally deliver stock to us within 2-3 working days.
7. Why no online payment (for now)?
At this stage, the main reason is the variable price of cheese based on weight. Brick-and-mortar retailers manage this by charging an estimated amount and then either charging or refunding the difference to your wallet.
We’re exploring online payment options where, once you’ve placed an order, we send you a payment link that allows you to pay by card.
8. Delivery hubs
We’re particularly keen to connect with local groups where we can have a chat, offer samples, or host tasting evenings. In these cases, deliveries can be made to the group, with members collecting from a central point.
